RAY GEIGER

COVINGTON - Ray L. Geiger, 82, of Rt. 1, died at 12:15 a.m. today in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been a patient one month. Mr. Geiger was owner and operator of a plumbing and heating business from 1932 until his illness. He previously had been a pipefitter for the railroad at Danville and was a rural mail carrier on Route 1 for many years. He also had worked as a clerk in the Dennis Grocery. He was a life-long resident of Covington and graduated from high school here in 1915. Born Jan. 8, 1897, at Covington, he was a son of Nicholas and Mary Slattery Geiger. He married Susie Wright on Aug. 3, 1922. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Jean) Bone of Covington; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Alan (Laura Sue) Conner of Jeffersonville. A sister is deceased. Services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here with the Rev. James Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. - jlr
